London Money Market Association
The LMMA is the trade association which represents participants in the money markets in London.
Purpose
The LMMA’s purpose is to educate and promote better understanding of how money markets work and to encourage closer co-operation between market participants, regulatory bodies, clearing houses, brokers, platforms and other market associations and to advise on best practice to improve efficiencies in trading, settlement and operations in the London money markets.
Members
The LMMA has a significantly diverse base of 38 member firms which operate across the full spectrum of the money markets in London. Sectors represented include UK commercial, retail and private banking, the building society sector, international banks from Europe, Asia and the Middle East, US and Canadian money centre banks and investment banks, asset management and insurance companies and central clearing.

Back Story
The London Money Market Association was formed in 1997 following the far-reaching changes that the Bank of England introduced in its money market operations, which began a year earlier with the introduction of gilt repo and culminated in the introduction of direct counterparties and the end of the discount market.
